After three months of online qualifiers, Fortnite competitive finally lands in a live arena. The FNCS Major 1 Summit kicks off this Friday, May 29th, at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, marking the first time the Champion Series visits Germany and the first time in three years a LAN is played in duos format.
There are 75 duos from all competitive regions fighting for a prize pool of $1.3 million, slots for the FNCS Global Championship at the end of the year, and, above all, the first major trophy of the post-trios era. The real competition starts now.

Why this Summit is historic
Three reasons why the Major 1 Summit is not “just another tournament”:
1. First LAN of the year in duos format
Fortnite competitive had been running in trios since 2023. Epic announced the return to duos at the end of 2025, aligning with the format of the World Championship 2024. The Major 1 Summit is the first time we see the world’s top duos competing for a six-figure trophy in a live setting.
2. FNCS steps foot in Germany for the first time
The PSD Bank Dome is a multi-use venue in Düsseldorf with a capacity of 14,000 people in esports configuration. Previous European LANs had been held in Sweden (Stockholm 2019), Poland, and France (Lyon 2024). Germany, with one of Europe’s strongest gaming markets, was a missing piece of the calendar.
3. The highest prize pool of the year so far
The champion duo takes $250,000, confirmed by Epic. The full prize distribution goes down to the top 32, ensuring rewards for over 40% of participants.

The three-day format
The 150 best players — 75 qualified duos representing all competitive regions of Fortnite — are distributed over the weekend as follows:
Day 1 — Who goes up
The 50 duos qualified for Major 1 compete in 6 matches in the upper bracket. The top 25 advance directly to the Grand Finals on Sunday. The remaining 25 move to the Lower Bracket on Saturday.
Day 2 — Second Chance
The 25 duos who finished last on Friday join the 25 duos from the Major 1 Second Chance Qualifier to compete in 6 matches. If a duo achieves a Victory Royale, they automatically advance to the Grand Finals! The remaining top 19 after the 6 matches also advance.
Day 3 — All or nothing
The ~50 best duos of the weekend face off in 8 matches to crown the champions of the FNCS Major 1 Summit.
The previous controversy that already made noise
Hours before the first online qualifier Game, Epic Games disqualified several competitors for using third-party overlay software that modified game files. The decision generated debate regarding rule consistency.
With no more DQs announced until Friday, the confirmed Summit roster is stable—but Epic has already warned that competitive integrity during the LAN will be monitored in real-time.
