Official announcement from Epic Games during the FNCS Major 1 Summit broadcast. Source: Fortnite Competitive official statement.

Rarely does a single announcement change so many things at once. What Epic just showed on screen during Day 1 of the Major 1 Summit rewrites the year’s competitive calendar, opens a door the community has been asking for years, and confirms a LAN venue many suspected but no one had official confirmation on. Let’s break it down.
FNCS Solo Returns in October 2026
This is the biggest news of the package. After years of FNCS exclusively featuring squad, trio, and duo formats, Epic confirms a new official solo tournament: the FNCS Solo, which will kick off in October 2026, right after the Global Championship.
The full format and calendar will be announced soon on the official Fortnite Competitive X and Instagram channels, but what Epic did confirm is that players will compete online for regional Battle Royale crowns. This means: each region will have its own individual champion, potentially marking the first step toward reinstating a World Cup-style solo later on.
Why this matters:
- The community has been asking for solo FNCS since the last World Cup in 2019
- Allows players without a duo to compete officially at the highest level
- Opens a path for new talent who dominate 1v1 but haven’t found the right partner
- Gives space for solo-based streamers/creators (without a fixed trio) to enter official competitive play
The exact date and format are still pending. But the announcement itself is the most positive news Epic has given to competitive play in the last 5 years.
Global Championship 2026: Antwerp, Belgium · September 26-27
Fortnite Global Championship 2026
Epic officially confirms the venue for the Global Championship 2026 in Antwerp, Belgium, on September 26 and 27. It is the culmination of the competitive year and where the world champion duo of the season will be crowned.
Moving the Global to September (it previously usually fell in November-December) coincides with the launch of the new Battle Royale season late in the summer in Europe. More details on ticket pre-registration and exact format will be shared in the coming days.

Power Rankings: Global Score Drops June 5

Another major update. Starting June 5, Epic is launching a global web Power Ranking — a single score, updated weekly, that ranks all competitive players worldwide.
The calculation is based on:
- The 20 best results in Battle Royale and Reload tournaments
- The current rank in the Ranked mode in both modes
- The overall difficulty of the tournaments played
You will be able to track your own ranking, share it, and follow your favorite players as if it were a profile. It is the first step toward a serious unified ranking system, something the competitive scene has been asking for for a long time to build long-term season narrative.
Other Updates You Can’t Ignore
New Rank: Unreal Legend

Starting in Season 3, the most demanding rank in Ranked mode arrives: Unreal Legend. To achieve it, you must meet three conditions simultaneously within the same season:
- Achieve the Unreal rank
- Have at least 2,500 Skill Points
- Be among the top 500 on the Unreal leaderboard
If you fail to meet any of them at any point, you lose the status. It is the new goal for hardcore grinders.
New Reward: Unreal Axe

The first time you reach Unreal in any season, you receive the Unreal Axe. Every subsequent season you return to Unreal, you unlock a new level for the axe. Battle Royale and Reload have their own independent axes. Elite collectible.
Cumulative Skill Points
Starting this season, when you reset ranks, you retain your skill points — you don’t start from zero. This means the initial matchmaking for every season will be fair from the very first match.
Upcoming Tournaments in Chapter 7 – Season 3
- FNCS Division Cups: Players ranked in divisions based on prior performance. Reaching Division 1 grants access to Major 2 and cash prizes.
- Elite Reload Rank 4: Last chance to qualify for the Esports World Cup in Paris, France in August.
- Solo Victory Cups: Victory Royales pay real prizes. No Build included.
- FNCS Community Cup: July 31, celebration of Major 2.
- Mobile Tournament: resumes on June 12.
- No Build: more tournaments in Season 3 — Epic says “we hear you.”
If you played trios, the goodbye to the format is final: the year is structured around duos until the Global and solo starting in October. If you never qualified because you lacked a fixed partner, October is your first real window in years to get into the official circuit. And if your goal was the Global, spots are now split between Major 1 Summit, Major 2, and Last Chance — three windows in less than four months.
